The vast majority of software on the market today is designed for the Windows platform. Leading analysis software programs in the IBM compatible world include - MetaStock, OmniTrader, TradeStation, OptionVue etc.

One of the only analysis programs In the Mac market is Trendsetter, from TrendSoft (USA). This program is very well written and fully leverages the additional capabilities of the Mac operating system.

Programs in the Linux world are slowly emerging as more and more programmers start to focus on this market place. Many of these programs are based on the Open Source model. For example, gstalker is an excellent, free program offering charting capabilities.
