Installing History for Personal Hotline
Paritech can create history data to import into Personal Hotline.
(Note: Paritech are attempting to refine our support for Macintosh
users. We will continue to add support information, and we
appreciate any feedback you have.)
You need to have entries in your list for any stocks you want. You
can either just add the stocks you want, or you can obtain an empty
list containing the Australian share symbols from
ftp://trendsoft.com/pub/Australian_Files.sea.hqx.
This file doesn't contain histories, it contains empty files, preset
with Australian share symbols. This eliminates the need to create
these files before importing text (ASCII) histories.
The empty files contained in the installer will require about 16 MB
of hard disk space. The installer will create three data folders
with names like "A-G", "H-R", etc. In total, there are approx. 2000
empty files.
- In some cases we found that you must have an entry for the
stock symbol in your symbol list prior to importing the history.
- Use the Universal text importer to import the text data. The
text files contain the symbol-name / date / open / high / low /
close / volume. For instance:
AAA,04/28/95,567600,2.7,2.74,2.69,2.71
- The challenge is to match the order of the text importer to
the order of the text file. Recent versions of the Universal text
Importer allow you to set the order of the fields. You need to set
the order to Symbol, Date, Volume, Open, High, Low. Set the Date
format to the MM/DD/YY. We can supply a single file containing the
entire ASX market history that can be imported in one session
(which may take a few hours).
- Finally you need to specify the location of your list
database. Navigate to the desktop, then into Trendsetter. Select
your list database folder and then select your list database.
- If the charts have the incorrect scale, you may need to go
into the 'list management' menu and select 'modify securities' and
set the tick size to 0.01.
